Classroom Herbarium
Learn about the fascinating work being done by the State Herbarium and create your very own classroom herbarium to press and dry plant specimens. Find step-by-step instructions on how to create your own plant press as well as a specimen collection form, based on the one used by botanists and researchers in the Herbarium!
Please remember to always seek permission to collect any plant specimens before going into the field from the appropriate person/business/branch
Students will:
- Understand the process of collecting and pressing plant specimens
- Learn about the importance of correct observation and recording of data when in the field
- Experience being a citizen scientist
