A new campaign called Be Here will launch today, emphasising the many reasons for visiting Adelaide Botanic Garden and encouraging people to experience those benefits again and again.

Board of the Botanic Gardens and State Herbarium Presiding Member, Judy Potter, explains that people from all ages and walks of life visit the magnificent botanical haven for a plethora of reasons.

“People come here to unwind, de-stress or to exercise. They come alone, or with family or friends to socialise, connect to nature and to each other,” Ms Potter said.

As the city revitalises following the COVID-19 pandemic, people coming to the city to relax, work and play are urged to add a visit to the vibrant garden on a regular basis.

“If you want to catch up with a friend, we are encouraging people to do it here. If you’re looking to work out of the office, this is a wonderful place for inspiration. If you want to clear your head, why not come here for some peace?”

“This campaign is about reminding people about our wonderful city oasis; it’s free and it’s open every day of the year for you and your loved ones to enjoy.”

Botanic Gardens and State Herbarium Director, Dr Lucy Sutherland, said that Adelaide Botanic Garden is a hub of activity and experiences, and this campaign is seeking to remind the community about that.

“There are engaging educational offerings for children and adults to learn here, such as the school holiday program and horticultural workshops.

"Exciting events are held year round in the garden giving people fun ways to play and be entertained here, and delicious food offerings on site give visitors the opportunity to eat here, too,” Dr Sutherland said.

“But you don’t have to come specifically for an activity; the garden is an excellent place to simply ‘be’ - a place to soak up the colours, sounds and smells of nature.

"With meandering, peaceful pathways throughout the garden, it is a wonderful place to tend to your mental, physical and emotional wellbeing.

“Whatever your reasons for coming to the garden, we encourage you to make use of this delightful, free sanctuary and experience the joys that each season brings. We encourage you to Be Here.
