Almost a dozen commissioned sculptures and artwork dot Mount Lofty Botanic Garden, allowing you to indulge your artistic side while surrounding yourself with natural beauty at the same time.
Several works by Greg Johns – one of Australia’s best known and most successful contemporary sculptors – can be seen around the Garden.
The first of Johns’ works you might see are the Collin Robjohns Gates (lower carpark entry). These sculptural gates were installed in 1996 to commemorate the role and contribution of South Australian medical practitioner and missionary, Dr Henry Collin Robjohns.
Keep an eye out for other works of Johns on the Dwarf Conifer Lawn and Main Lake, which were commissioned in the 1980s and ’90s.
In 2015, a series of eight plant-themed artworks were installed around the Garden’s Main Lake as part of the Lakeside Loop. The design was a collaboration between Martins Brand House and Oxigen Landscape Architects, with construction done by Iguana Creative.
